Group A: Chloe Chong - final blog entry

In this whole semester for studio I class, I have learnt a lot about interaction design which at first I don't know what it is. The things that I did write on this overall project I gone through with my group members is to do what I have to as a group member and also participation in class. Things I've done wrong is about not blogging weekly and also didn’t really do readings on myself. But few weeks back I did some research on interaction design on web and I found out that interaction design is ain’t that boring after all. The things that I would do differently if there's a chance is to choose a better project idea because somehow our group member is lost somewhere on the project and now it's all find because we figure it how to do. But I’ll still want to change the project title if there's any chance. base on the things I have learnt during the whole semester, so far I get to know what is interaction and also learning how to co-operate with other group members because I'm a kind of person who like to do things individually but did project had somehow taught me how to co-operate and dare to express my ideas in front of people. And the best part of this class is that I get the opportunities to learn how to make movie even thou it’s a hard time for us first time user creating video. Overall I have learnt a lot in this class.

The thoughts that was running in my mind was sometimes I don't really understand what lecturer said, because maybe they way lecturer speak is like the sentences is too deep nor too hard for us student to get it. I think a lot of my classmates think so. But now it's so far so good because now I get used to it already. I think it would be better to say it not so deep and also more easy understanding to the students.

week 12-participation diary

on week 12 we had our participation diary presentation. As for me during the whole semester for this design studio I, I think what i did well in this was my attendance no matter attending for class or meetings I'm always there and punctual. Well the other things i did well was doing my job in my group project by doing research and giving ideas. The things that I have learn to do better was to improve on my blog journal and also reading cause i didn't do all the reading thou, just read those reading that is interesting and also those which are important for our group project. The rest of the reading i just went through by just looking at the visuals. The things that i could have done better in my participation diary was the blog journal by adding more extra readings into the blog entry to help out on my group project, because the blog entry that I wrote are mostly about things that happen in class and also what we had done on our group project. If i give myself and overall mark i think it will be a distinction.

i found some design/device on the web are related to interaction design. I think i should share with others. And this is also very helpful to my group project.

NOKIA 888
This site I found is something like what VITA had found a clip about this future phone. And I wanted to blog more about the concept about this phone. Is a new device which is a personal mobile communication device which follow you everywhere you go. It is light, simple and carefree device which can be a fashion which also can change its form according to your needs during the day. This phone interact by receiving/send forms to or from friends. For example when you send a heart shape to the other person, so the receiver's phone turns into a heart shape icon. This device is flexible which you can put into the pocket, roll it into a smaller size or put on the wrist when wanna make a video call. If you would like to make a call, you can turn it to a phone shape. It's a very unique device i should say.

ON OFF MUG
A lot of people thought is just a mug with a big letter OFF but this mug isn't just an ordinary mug like other. Once you add hot beverage into the mug, the mug will change color and it will turn to white in a big letter state ON. It's a very special mug. I found this mug very intersting and funny.

This device concept it created by Ryan Han where you can shake the player and it will turn all the files into icon format, these can then be moved about and arranged, while tipping the PMP will begin file transfer mode.

Sony's Apple Remote
This Sony’s”apple” allows users to perform basic functions like changing channels, volume etc. with simple motion gestures f shaking it to left and right. Once “apples” are placed on the bowl, the remote control is being recharged.

We had our consultation and we are half way on our report. We each of us done our part and all our report are given to Nelsi to arrange everything together so that we had our final report soon.

innovative designs and device

I found this website is super cool... The link above is link to innovative designs which is something that is link to interaction design. On the site i found that some device are a great use bcause due to device they created is easy and simple while it also link in design. I found that Sony's apple remote is very useful. It's like a remote control which don't have any bottons just by shaking left to right you can change the channel or volume.

week 11+Reading

This week, our group member did a draft report. On the report me, Candy and Vita did the survey, persona and also scenario draft report while Nelsi did the introduction and also she combine the whole draft report together. On the report we wrote about what we had went trough on our journey and also how it helped us on doing this time management project.

READING
I did a continuous of Steve Krug: Don't make me think (chapter 9-10) reading. Overall this reading really worth it because it gives you ideas on how to be a better designer so that it makes the designer and also the consumer easy. Doing a usability test doesn't mean you need a professional to do it. We as a designer too can do the testing on ourself which can save money and also learning new things by experimenting.

SUPERCOW

Supercow team this week has more further discussion on time management due to the deadline is coming soon. Today we had our discuss after class. On our upcoming project we solve our problem on our solution on time management. We had figure out what the is type of device/service that we can help our persona. Procrastination is the main things that is disturbing the personas. So that we created a device/service that help them to arrange the time well, remind about their daily things that need to do, and also a where you can be a mobile phone. This week we each of us are going to do a draft on the essay. We had divided to each of us what are we going to do.
On the previous which each of us did a different persona on different kind of people:
Nelsi - "uncle BOB" a persona on an elderly.
Vita - " Jane" a persona on a worker which is a senior
Chloe - "xin lin" a persona about a student
Candy - "Peter" a persona about an adult which is just start his work (junior)

So on the which this persona we did a little round up on the persona by getting to know more about them by describing their characteristic and also what device/serveice would help the personas.

This week we are going forward on our progress of time management. We are going through a progress on doing a persona. Each of our members are doing a different kind of persona from different people from different stages. For me I'm doing a persona about a student who live in a procrastination life. From that i can built a scenario about what she needs or how she can improve on her time management.

this week I've been reading a book by Steve Krug, Don't make me think : A common sense to approach to web usability (chapter 1 - 5). I think that this book is very usefully for designers especially those who are creating web design. I agreed with what he wrote in the book. It really do make sense that create a web page you need to be straight froward and also be clear to the user so that they wont have any questions mark around them when using the web. Being a good designer we need to know how to create a
design which is an-easy use for the user and also make it convenient.

For this week we don't have much things to do due to the AGideas forum. With this I took the advantage to do some readings that Tania had posted on the blackboard. And also doing my group project work. I did a review again on the research that I have found for procrastination. On that research I have found out more abut what is procrastination. For that understanding of procrastination I can do a persona and scenarios.

this week we had a few cool video that Blair showed us.. It is a video about Interaction design where johnny lee did an experiment with the Wii and also the adobe interactive wall mural.

this is the 6th meeting we had. On this group meeting we discuss on our video on how we wan the video to go fluently. In this meeting we did alot of sketching and also brain storming on how the video need to be join. Vita showed us the video where he is incharge of doing the video.

i did a reading on the blackboard about understanding design. I found out that for me i most respond on learning integration because im the person that need to be guided and also comments on some others so that i can improve more on my design. The bad side of it is that we cant be guided all the times, we need to have our on opinion and also confident about what we had design.

In the week 5 lecture class I have thought about how to use persona and scenarios. We have to understand what the user need and we have to first identify the user motivations, expections and goals responsibility so that it will help guide decisions about functionality and design.

In the week 5 of our meeting we have gather all the survey results and it didn't turn out to our expection of reaching our target of people that questions on but we are very satisfy on our survey and we discuss about the survey and the following steps that we are going to do is to summarize and make a pie chat from our result so that we can see clearly the percentage on the group of people that are in.

WHAT I FEEL ABOUT TIME MANAGEMENT??

Time management for me is something that is very important in our daily life. Time management is associated with the recommendation to set goal. In our daily life, we need to arrange our time so that we don't crash the time with what we are going to do and so that's why people create time management. Without time management will be a procrastinator.

in the previous class me n my group came up with the research of time management and we all came up with four questions about time management which is:

- positive and negative effects of time management-candy

so far we had did our research and now we are planning to do further research on time management and more about procrastination.

after our group discussion we found out that the main problem of time management is about procrastination, and the research is all lay on me because my research is about why can people manage time well.

In the class, i had view the video about annual report infrographic movie and i think that the video is simple and easy to understand. I think it is a good short report in a video mode.

this my 2nd blog i doing and this blog is gonna be all about DESIGN..
* things that i have learn from the class today is about Interactive Design. I did my research on website and i found out that interaction design is about defining and creating the behavior of products and systems that a user can interact with.

today we discuss about our topic about time management with more further detail, each of us did a mind map. Nelsi and candy did a mind map about people who need time management while vita did a mind map about time management. As for me, i did research on procrastination so i did a mind map on procrastination. In this mind map we did understand more about time management and for this we did a questionnaire so that we can gather more information from different people from different ages.
